Jill Winston grew up in Rochester, Michigan, the northern most suburb of Detroit. Art and Rock n’ Roll music have been the defining influences of Jill’s creative life. The impact of art and music is reflected in both Jill’s studies and career path.

Jill started her art studies in Rochester then moved on to study at the Cranbrook Institute in Bloomfield Hills, and finally at the Arts Management program at Eastern Michigan University. She worked for both EMU and the University of Michigan’s Office of Major Events promoting concerts, designing posters and promotional materials. As a freelance artist, Jill designed album covers for both emerging bands and established rock and roll icons.
Jill’s love of art as entertainment shifted to the movie business while living in Australia where she worked for CBS Fox Video designing and producing box art and managing video production for the South Pacific market.
Jill channeled her creativity into jewelry making in 2002. Although she has studied at Cabrillo College, Santa Cruz, Ox Bow in Saugatuck, Michigan and Rio Grande in New Mexico the learning and creating is ignited in one of her two studios.
Her jewelry can be found for public sale exclusively at small shows, auctions and this website. And recently several JWin designs were spotted at the Grammys!
Jill is married with three daughters and primarily lives in Santa Cruz California.
Artist's Statement
“It is all about “the design” for me. Good design is a satisfying pleasure that comes from my interpretation of things I love. Travel, music, fashion, modern art and even food can drive my inspiration. These things must begin with basic structure and discipline but become meaningful and timeless when enhanced by bold edits or additions and, of course, the unexpected.
